Seen from the distance, so back in time It looked like all the rage Was floating down the line Woke up this morning and couldn’t breathe A stranger’s body aching inside of me You are trying to reach where No one should risk No such a thing as luck for you and me It s not enough to be, Honest and clean You have to look the part, don’t play it mean Please let them ring for thee. Aware of where we come from, Afraid of who we are Trouble is on time. Arrived without a lead/leash The dog is having fun so let it be. It took me 50 years to feel this free You used to mean so much to me No sympathy, no empathy Please let them ring for thee.

Drag me out & take me down Where the pain goes numb Bitter/sweet home. Why can’t you just go to sleep? I think it’s time for you to surrender. Is always a great relieve When silence takes over this house. And while the world tumbled down I came stronger. Why have I been cursed like this? Honestly. Stop being so cruel to me. You are giving free rein to all of my anger. Your body language is a bitch. Let’s lose the war and find some peace. And when you’re praying for a time out It sweeps you over. Here is where you want to spend The rest of your life Drag me out & take me down Where the pain goes numb Bitter/sweet home.

Who were you hiding from at the roof top? At night, not even your shadow could find you Your secret will be safe, if you want me to. Won’t tell, won’t watch, won’t touch. I was so proud of you back then And here I came looking for that look. I resisted comforting you in the burial scene. I couldn’t help but imagining the herd will be there. With their bloody knives and sharp tongues ready To unveil my hidden intentions. After brother passed away I thought I could turn back the time And draw some blood out of the stone I threw at your roof so long ago. I found out you didn’t grow old as gracefully As you did in my dreams. You can’t beat the old memories How great was to be forgotten How brave to remain here. He stopped for a second at the door To accommodate his eyes to the new lighting. He wished he could remember everyone’s name So he didn’t have to wave and scream “hi!” To every passing shadow. Wondered were the saddest street of town would led him It was just a matter of time or hitting the road The weightless wonder of the world Occupied the best seat by the throne Looking grateful and proud For the hours well spent in your arms For the numbing of the pain I’d rather take your place Like a body snatcher could I’d swallow your soul like a beast.

decadence 04:55
You’re in, I’m out, I kiss the ground. We crash and burn, ashes from love. The good times rolled, the present is gross. He is clinging to his better days. Tried so hard to fall in style. The decadence, you wear it well. But all your clothes are torn and frayed. Your paradise. You parasite Don't drag me back to those times. Don't want to choke on your old demands. I explicitly told you that I rather live for today Come out, come out, I’m doing the rounds Playing again to lost and found I explicitly told you that I rather live underground To camouflage from solitude, you built a forest, a curfew. You’d rather drown in your own pool of sorrow. You’re paralysed from the brain down Nothing makes sense when you are around. The future fled, you couldn’t care less. Hope you find some inner peace. Don't drag me back to those times. Don't want to choke on your old demands. I explicitly told you that I rather live for today Come out, come out, I’m doing the rounds Playing again to lost and found I explicitly told you that I rather live underground

You remind me of someone I barely knew back then You are bringing back the times When I fell between the cracks. I will turn a blind eye to the pictures overload. Covering all in sweetness until my head falls off Have you consider to drain the river Saints and sinners, Please consider to deliver. Drain the river, Saints and sinners Please consider to deliver. Climbing up a mountain With a rose tinted skin. Burning down memories From a colour magazine Saving up the courage To get lost among the crowd. Got a lot to swallow Following the masses in disguise. Have you consider to drain the river Saints and sinners, Please consider to deliver. Drain the river, Saints and sinners Please consider to deliver.

One can only began to wonder Why the windows are always shut When no one answer to the calls From the fans parked outside her home Why all the infatuation? Refused to move out of her lawn. Who is that scary ghost on your shoulders? Clenching his teeth when I dare to smile You live your life attached to devices Those who make you feel so free Why all that information? Corrupting you down to the bones Emotionally attached to the hustler The adulteress always gets what she wants If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be here If I wasn’t here where would you go? Run, run towards the station The bells are calling out your name

the greatest 03:41
My favourite pain is always the strongest It makes me forget the lesser strains It usually crawls while I’m not sleeping She welcomes my night and makes herself home When I’m at my lowest she pushes the buttons I learned how to sing at her magical song Nothing I can do will distract her from her goal I’m glad that she found a puppet like me You trigger something inside so hard to describe Come close for a dance Let me be your pretender I am going to great lengths to keep you company Until you change your mind Or you come to your senses…

IN THE ARMS OF SISTER MORPHINE
Dual/Duel
the Crooked Crew
(F Oliva 3/11/18)

TWISTING and turning through a meandering course Captain Excuse and the Crooked Crew continue their epic voyage of the damned to the heart of darkness.
The latest offering recreates its own post-rock solemnity, more a musical liturgy and soundtrack to sleepless nights than a collection of songs in the conventional sense of the word, a sustained hypnotic loop that lures you into an intimate realm with stealth, checking, halting time, slowing it down, holding it back until everything stands still.
It is clear from the captivating opening sax notes that the Captain invites us to navigate an unusual, nuanced musical ocean, one imbued with an otherworldly quality, with bleak and sombre traits but also capable of splendid moments of musical if not lyrical reprieve.
Captain Excuse throws the gauntlet once again to see if anyone dare take up the challenge. This is not for the faint-hearted or those content with mass produced throwaway pop artifacts. These are musical passages meant to endure, meaty elegies for time and the precariousness of human relations.
The Captain dons complex and multilayered musical identities to draw from an imposing panoply of textured sound that is testament to the band’s vast musical arsenal and creative power, to chronicle the deepest introspection of the human soul. These anthems of doom and sorrow, at times claustrophobic, at others hauntingly beautiful, are painstakingly constructed upon minimalist tones, martial rhythms that bloom into mid-tempo folksy ballads, spellbinding Americana, infectious pop melodies with a capital P; all of which is (spell)bound together by the Captain’s grave and broken voice that embraces a disarming capacity for self-awareness.
Yet when all seems lost, the murky fog that accompanies these seasoned mariners will be lifted yet again to allow the light to shine through. There are notable highlights; ‘The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner,’ that would have been an apt addition to the bill at David Lynch’s Roadhouse Tavern, giving way to the euphoria of the fittingly named ‘The Greatest’, like a shining light through the darkness, its energetic acoustic guitar blowing away the last cobwebs in the sky as dawn breaks.
It has been stated that humans create metaphor, art, music, as a means to displace the unnamable. Dual/Duel is one such instance, a requiem for life which is ultimately what ends up killing you. It can be no other way.
Under the influence of Captain Excuse and the Crooked Crew. Yet again they have steered clear of the iceberg, one more time. Davy Jones locker will have to wait.

##############################
